I don't know about you, but Harper's answer to the Liberals' call for a judicial inquiry into Mulroney's shenanigans strikes me as... well... something Mulroney himself would come up with to avoid any more light shining into those shadowy areas of his post political life.
You know, the behind-the-scenes-after-hours-hotel-room-cash-only shadowy areas of Mulroney's post political life.
And is there really such a thing anyway as a "post political" life once you've been Prime Minister of Canada?
I mean, I don't particularly care whether or not Mulroney actually goes down on any of his nefarious activities or not, but I do take exception to the current Prime Minister intimating that the whole barrel of apples is bad and that his "you don't want to go there, sister" response is any kind of valid response at all to the Opposition's call for a judicial inquiry into Mulroney's at the very least "slightly less than legitimate SEEMING" dealings with one Karlheinz Schreiber.
Because, while Liberals may or may not want to "go there, sister" (and I can't see that the Martinite half of the Liberal Party wouldn't want the Chretienite half of the Liberal Party to come up smelling like stinkweed and vice versa, should the current Prime Minister release the hounds, afterall) - I am quite sure that the vast number of non-aligned, but no less Canadian, Canadians would want the current Prime Minister to be absolutely forthcoming - IF indeed, he has the goods, as he so cleverly implies he does, on Liberal Prime Ministers past.
Afterall, they're still alive and kicking and if it produces just one more book of "J'accusiness" - what the hell - go for it, Dude.
Really, Mr. Prime Minister - inquiring Canadian minds DO want to know what you seem to know that we don't - whether the Liberal Party wants us to or not. We DO want to know about all the ins and outs of Prime Ministerial transactions while in office and, maybe, especially maybe - both before and after office. Seriously, it matters to us if our Prime Ministers are, in fact, nothing but a bunch of scum sucking bottom feeders on the make at our expense.
Sure, it may not matter to you OR the Liberal Party of Canada - but it matters to the rest of us Canadian taxpayers, voters, and citizens.
So, quit being such a Mulroney already and either put up or shut up.
