Funding Blatant Sexism
I read this earlier today and against my better judgement decided to post around it:

Cute. Except for the fact that we all know the Catholic Church will never ever allow for women to become Priests. A woman will never be in the College of Cardinals from whence the Pope, who will always be a man, is elected, either.
God is the Father and Jesus Christ is his only begotten Son.
I can't care about why people continue to fund a blatantly sexist organization with their own money. It's none of my business, really, and I've got enough on my plate as it is without taking on Catholics, who clearly love the contradiction of adhering to a blatantly sexist, unrepentently hierarchical, organized and powerful, unredeemably patriarchal religion - while living freely in a democratic society.
What is my business, in the Year of our Lord, 2008, which is right around the corner, is that the Government of Ontario fully funds a blatantly sexist education system with public money.
The Catholic Church will never evolve and Catholics know this - or should. It is completely disingenuous, in my opinion, to pretend that the Catholic Church will ever be anything other than what it is and always has been and always will be.
It is up to the Government of Ontario to evolve and show some respect for women's equality to men and taxpayers of both sexes by refusing to fund religious education with public money. It's not rocket science, where women have managed, in spite of EVERYTHING, to gain a foothold. It's the Catholic Church - where women will never be treated as equal to men.
Ever.
This is our children's education system we're talking about here. Religions - all of them - teach that women are women, not people. Only men get to be people in the World's Great Religions. It's wrong and it's backward and I have no idea why we pretend that it isn't.
