"I Am Not An Islamophobe"
This is my favourite line in Mr. Steyn's attempt to link the murder of a teenaged girl by her Islamic father to a Human Rights complaint against him by the Canadian Islamic Congress, while essentially re-implying that there is a Muslim Menace threatening our very existence at this moment that we ignore at our peril (Note the "They" that starts off the quote):
They now happen in the heart of western cities, and western feminist groups are silent, and western media rush to excuse it as just one of those things, couldda happened to anybody.
Well, actually, Mr. Steyn - western Feminist groups would probably like women to be included in the protection provided by hate crime laws and religion excluded from the protection provided by hate speech laws, but there you go - certainly New Conservatives here in Canada and Old Republicans there in the United States would disagree.
I dunno. Call me a Feminist, but I think it's largely thanks to guys like you that Imams et al can preach hatred against women - if and when they do. And it's thanks to guys like you that women often have nowhere to turn when confronted with violence in the home - if and when they are.
Because keeping women safe from violent controlling men requires government funding, not tax cuts.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but guys like you have disagreed from your mainstreammedia pulpits with every Feminist advancement made in this country for anybody and everybody - EVER.
You know, women are murdered by controlling men in Canada often enough (and Canada is where this girl was murdered, she was Canadian, and just as dead here as if she'd been killed in Pakistan) - usually because they are gunned down by a formerly law-abiding ex - and I don't see any columns from you boohooing that fact. Although... come to think of it... you have reprinted often enough a twisted column that you seem to think is worth reading annually about the Montreal Massacre - you know, how the murderer was Algerian-born and that's why it happened - or somesuch (I'm just guessing, I've never actually made it through the column) - not because he was crazy and had a gun and was able to kill lots of people with it.
So yeah, long post short - selfserve with righteous indignation much, Mark Steyn?
Oh, and don't forget to write about the next man who murders a woman in Canada so it doesn't look like you only notice the Muslim Murders.
You know, Mark Steyn, as a Feminist, I'd like to take the Canadian Islamic Congress and shove it up its own ass. But, I feel that way about all Patriarchal outfits.
