Mark Steyn's Big Brush
I guess Mark Steyn has decided to appeal to the Court of Internut Opinion on this one:
IAmNot,NorHaveIEverBeen,ATerrorist,Er,Islamophobe
Well, that's always risky, since Internutters usually aren't considered admissable as evidence and don't necessarily make the best character witnesses, even though the Internut is where most of this stuff is best discussed. But I will defer to his judgment on this one because as Kate points out here: SDAStatsLieHere - there isn't much point in a Honky (Steyn) going up against The Man (Canadian Human Rights Tribunal).
And really, I don't see how Mark Steyn can be cited for having a history of Islamophobia when the rest of the MSM (and I mean "mainstream media" here, NOT "men who have sex with other men" which is what MSM means when someone is talking about HIV/AIDS, apparently - like THAT'S gonna help with tolerance and understanding) suffers from Islamophobia, too.
Cripes, I'm pretty sure I suffer from it and I'm practically a terrorist, myself. Er, well, you know what I mean, Dear Reader.
Anyway, I agree with Mark Steyn (which actually makes me like him even less, I hasten to add, for all you SooeyHaters) but I do wish he'd put away his leftophobia long enough to remember his Islamophobia - at least for the duration of his trial:
The "progressive" left has grown accustomed to the regulation of speech, thinking it just a useful way of sticking it to Christian fundamentalists, right-wing columnists, and other despised groups. They don't know they're riding a tiger that in the end will devour them, too.
Now, Mark Steyn - WHO is making the complaint against you? (And we do know about the tiger turning on us - we do. Trust me.) That's right. It's not the "progressive" left, it's the Canadian Islamic Congress, as we see here: We'reMadAsTerrorists,AndWe'reNotGoingToTakeItAnymore
Now, get off the Internet and get a lawyer and fight this thing.
