No One Expects the NationalPostEditorialBoard
This is not surprising to me, but I invite you, Dear Reader, to have a gander at this explicitly sexist, bordering on misogynistic, lecture by the NatPostEdBd to its readers:
ScantilyCladGirlfriendViewingGood,BitchesBad
I fail to see a single valid point in its defence of the behaviour of MP James Moore - just as I fail to appreciate MP Irene Mathyssen's reaction to his behaviour.
See, that's what I call being reasonably non-partisan on an issue like this - recognizing that he's an idiot, but she's an idiot for calling him on it.
But to spin it the way the NatPost has done here, well, it shows how deeply partisan (not to mention, uncomprehending) the editorial board of the National Post truly is.
Now, it's a fact that James Moore, New Conservative MP, was looking at pictures of a scantily clad woman on his laptop during a sitting of the House. It's also a fact that Irene Mathyssen, NDP MP, complained about it. Since then, she has apologized.
But here's where it spins out of control, as far as I'm concerned. It actually makes me wish the NatPost would just choke on its own bile, quite frankly, and its members cease to take up any more of the world's valuable oxygen:
We applaud Ms. Mathyssen's act of contrition. But it doesn't change the fact that she displayed such poor judgment in the first instance. We expect voters -- especially those precious few who have ever looked at pictures of scantily clad women, whether in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue or in Cosmopolitan -- to remember her actions the next time they go to the polls.
Yeah. SHE displayed poor judgment. And objectifying women is good because everybody does it. Women should learn to suck it up and shut it up.
For my part, I hope sensible readers of the National Post (if there are any left) remember this editorial the next time they don't buy this drivel.
Boycott the New Conservative Party of Canada - don't buy the National Post.
