Re Mark Steyn Again
Okay. I've boiled down my argument to this: There shouldn't be a law, however quasi, against being an asshole.
The fact that it's Mohammed Elmasry behind the Human Rights complaint against Mark Steyn made it easier to boil that argument down, by the way.
But seriously, if the best the Islamophobes can come up with against Mohammed Elmasry is something he said a couple of years ago on Michael Coren's show about Israeli citizens being legitimate targets of violence for suicide bombers because every Israeli citizen over the age of 18 is in the army, well, I dunno but I really don't think that's such an outrageous thing to say, given the context of the Middle East and the fact that the Palestinian side sends suicide bombers off into Israeli neighbourhoods while the Israeli side sends its army in to Gaza to completely level Palestinian neighbourhoods in retaliation.
I mean, since when is any of it legitimate? Talk about splitting irrelevant hairs. Uh... okay... they're not legitimate targets of violence, then. Happy? Geez Louise, at least Elmasry put an age limit on who was a legitimate target of violence and who wasn't.
Yeah, yeah. Save your finger wagging for another tribe betrayer. I'm not agreeing with Mohammed Elmasry that Israeli citizens over the age of 18 are legitimate targets of violence either, okay? I'm just saying if that's the best the Islamophobes can come up with, I'm not impressed.
And there still shouldn't be a law, however quasi, against being an asshole.
But there is, I guess, and since there is, I can't see that Mark Steyn isn't guilty of breaking it. In fact, I think there are a lot of Islamophobes who have been breaking it for the past six years. Not that I care. Islam isn't a person, it's a religion. And religion is just sexist bullshit preached by crazy men in dresses.
