Afghanistan and The Big Lie
Afghanistan is such a big lie, isn't it. I mean, we've been listening to nothing but horseshit about why we're there and debating it as if it isn't all horseshit.
Let's just be honest. It's a sop to the U.S. And that's fair enough, I suppose. Perhaps, it's been ever thus and ever will be. The U.S. is a powerful country with dwindling resources and we're the eggheads right next door with forests and water and lots of untapped mining potential.
But if you've been paying attention, you'll notice that the New Conservative government and its media have spun the horseshit reason as to why we're in Afghanistan - to fight for the rights of women and girls there - into an attack on Feminists here who are opposed to the war.
You know the argument they use, that Feminists don't support the war in Afghanistan because they don't care about women's rights other than their own.
Interesting, eh? The War on Afghanistan has been used against Feminists here by this government and its media to attack our politics - even while we fund it just as much as they do - and even while the government strips women here of their human rights through such sneaky backdoor Bills as Bill C-484.
Meanwhile, women only have rights here because people fought for them, politically.
But they use the same argument as the reason for Bill C-484, you'll notice, as they do for the war in Afghanistan. (Or maybe you haven't noticed, but that's why I'm here - to spread the word.) It's all for women, they say. They're doing it all for women.
Just not women who are Feminists. That's because Feminists aren't REAL women and REAL women aren't Feminists.
Get it?
It's a war alright - a propaganda war. And our government and media are waging it against us.
