Liberal foreign affairs critic Bob Rae said it was clear the Tories are trying to help Republican friends at the expense of Canadian interests."They will do what is necessary to help Republicans. They're a nasty, unprincipled bunch, who are incompetent to boot," Rae wrote in a blog.
Gee, that'll be funny if Bob Rae doesn't win the by-election. Although I guess then the Liberal Party could do like they did with Stanley Knowles of the NDP and give him a desk in the middle of the House of Commons so he'd have something to do until he, like, died. I dunno. Could he be made Party Whip? I mean, chances are he'd be more likely to be around for votes than elected Members. Gosh. That'd be awkward, though:
Dion: "So... Ahhhhh... How 'bout dos Blue Bird?"
Rae: "I think I should probably reign over Caucus meetings now. You go work on your English. I bought you a one-way ticket to England."
Dion: "You know, you doan win, eh?"
Rae: "I'd prefer we not discuss that now. Or ever. See you at the Caucus meeting. And please don't be late. I've scheduled a full agenda. Oh, but you have to catch your flight to England. Nevermind. I'll just add Leader to my list of titles and take over for you."
