Canada's Unborn Women's Day
We may as well call a spade what it is in Canada - a spade. Afterall, somebody voted for this government of liars and bribers and misogynists, so the enemy is clearly - us.
Meanwhile, Bill C-484 passed first reading with the help of Liberals either not showing up for the vote or voting with the New Conservatives for it. (In the extreme irony department, Dion was at an International Women's Day function.) And the Canadian media, by-and-large and save for the odd lady MsZerbStandsAlone,Again, continues to ignore the assault on women's rights that is Bill C-484 (you need only look at who voted for it to see it for what it is, too - an abortion recriminalization bill) - because it works for the other side, the side that doesn't care about your right as a citizen to have autonomy over your own body.
We're nowhere, Baby. The little rump Reform party of whackos and fringers is running our country and making it over in its image as sure as the infinite pool of unborn rights over women's rights is ever expanding.
Support the Troops. Maybe they'll learn something about rights in Afghanistan that they can bring back home and teach to our legislators. Meanwhile, here's lesson number one: Without reproductive rights, women have no real rights at all.
