It's the Traffic, Stupid!
Here in Ottawa, they don't bother plowing the sidewalks anymore. It's not even a subtle message, the one from our government telling pedestrians that we don't count. I dunno. Maybe we should stop paying taxes?
It's all cars, cars, cars. Everything is about cars. And the next time some asshat waddles down memory lane by way of complaining about "kids today", tell s/he to go play in the traffic. Because that's why kids and dogs can't run free, really, because they'd be run over in a matter of seconds by an SUV.
And it wouldn't even be the driver's fault because s/he can't really see anything that isn't a good five feet off the ground. Nevermind backing up. Cripes, I cross right on over to the other side of town when somebody is backing up in one of those things. And I'm 5'5".
