Insidious Speech
Here's something very telling, and typical, about the current crop of Freedom of Speech... Disadvocates (?) on the Internet. Marc Weisblott, a groovy hipster who once offered to set me up with a blog (I was too shy), wrote a piece in EyeWeekly about Kathy Shaidle EyeWeakly,We'reInternet, who is someone I link to for... hellry (?) IsSheReallyFiveFeet?. In turn, the piece is linked to by Warren Kinsella ThisMeansWar,ThatMeansWar,EVERTHINGMEANSWAR!, who ends his entry about how NOT a sparring partner of Ms. Shaidle he is, with this:
[And, while we are on the topic, how come I could find this vile stuff so quickly - and Mark couldn't ?]
That's what I mean by insidious speech. And I don't know if it's deliberate or just mindless but here's Marc with the between-the-lines (it's where all the best reading is done, isn't it) smackdown in Mr. Kinsella's new Comments section (in which, for some insane reason, people actually post comments):
Where did you get the idea that I couldn't find it? Marc W.
Sometimes, just when you've given up hope of the asylum being taken over by the patients, along comes Marc Weisblott.
