Getting Over Afghanistan
Well, I've decided to give up on protesting the War in Afghanistan and just give it up that it's costing us a bundle. Our hard earned working family tax dollars might just as well be handed over to military contractors as the New Conservative Government of Canada, but such is life. It'll always be something and with New Conservatives it'll always be something ideologically driven, so - what are you going to do.
Besides, if throwing money at the problem of Afghanistan works, maybe we can try it here some day, too, and solve our problem of poverty - particularly in Vancouver's downtown eastside. I mean, it'd be a shame to have to boycott your own country's Olympics because they're only different in degree to Beijing's.
As with the soldiers in Afghanistan, they all want to be there or they wouldn't have signed up. No one's got a gun to anyone's head over on this side of the world. And they're all heroes because that really helps justify the expense of the whole operation, I've noticed.
So give it up for the War in Afghanistan, Canada. If we can make it there, we can make it anywhere. Even here.
