Speaking of Speaking for...
There's about to be another Internet go 'round about why our fathers fought in WWII. Mine died when I was young so my Mom had to do the talking for him, and although she never said specifically why he fought in the war, she had a general explanation of why everybody else she knew did: "it was your duty, there was no choice but to go".
But, of course, she was speaking about what she knew to be true - THEN.
