CBC in China
I dunno. I'm starting to feel like an accessory to Totalitarianism thanks to our publicly funded broadcaster's enthusiastic extolling of the virtues of the Beijing Olympics and its insistence on keeping politics out of what is an undeniably political venue. It's one thing to pay homage to the elite in international sport (simple one dimensional creatures that they are), quite another to promote China's new Olympic legacy, built as it is on the brutal repression of human rights, the Olympic Committee winking and nodding all the way to the next orgy of excess.
If ever the right had an argument against the public funding of a state broadcaster - CBC's coverage of the Beijing Olympics is it.
