The Actual How of the New Conservative Win
Okay, I noticed nobody's asking so here's Sooey's analysis of why middle Canadians from middle Canada will vote for Stephen Harper and his New Conservative government: he offers them simple cash re-payments (with their own money, of course) in exchange for their votes.
So, why the Liberals and/or the NDP don't simply offer to double the cash re-payment each time he offers it, is beyond me. C'mon you Liberal/Left deep-t'inkers - this isn't rocket science - it's bribery - with the bribees' own money, even. From now on, every time Stephen Harper offers a cash re-payment (with their own money, of course) to middle class suburban couples with kids, in exchange for their votes - double the offer. Because no one listens to detailed plans that won't simply strip the treasury of revenue and return piddling amounts of money to individual taxpayers thereby leaving the government itself with insufficient funds to function properly.
For instance, when Stephen Harper offers couples with little kids $100 per kid until school age, double it to $200 and offer it for kids up to age 18. When Stephen Harper offers up a tax free savings account for up to $5,000, double it and throw in a free hat. When Stephen Harper offers parents a tax credit for their kids' hockey and ballet fees, double it and toss in free skates and pointe shoes to the first 500 voters.
Because that's the real why and how of winning elections in Canada these days. And there's no point in any political party pretending they're above all that - even if they are - because voters are only interested in one thing - buying into the politics of politicians who bribe them with their own money.
