As Timothy Findlay once opined. But if you could have select painful memories removed, would you?

P.S. Wasn't there a movie about this already?

Yeah. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.
I'll keep my mind intact, thank you very much. It may be battered and broken but it's mine. I payed too high a price to give it up. _________________ The truth is out there but the lies are in your head. - Terry Pratchett

i suppose they could have eliminated painful memories in mice. on the other hand, the might have just made them retarded. hard to tell. they're mice.

I'd like to erase the memory of all the songs that I used to love but have gotten sick of... then I could love them again

Don't worry someday you'll have Alzheimers and everyday will start out shiny and new.

Fastball
The Way
They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going
Without ever knowing the way?
They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down
They started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?
Anyone could see
The road that they walk on is paved in gold
And it's always summer, they'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows
Wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happy there today , today
The children woke up
And they couldn't find 'em
They Left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off
And left it all behind 'em
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?
CHORUS
CHORUS

It's actually the happy memories that drive you mad
You can never recreate them ever again...

And yet, the older one gets (with the less time one has left) the snapping of the shoelace isn't such a big deal - because we have debit cards.
I always get Charles Bukowski and Hunter S. Thompson mixed up. Are they similar at all?

That reminds me to go drinking at the Bukowski bar in Boston when I'm there in June.

I don't think you're taking eventual death very seriously, Sheena.
