back in the dinosaur days I saw him play at a peewee tournament. never met him though I did go to school with some of his cousins (benign dorks)

these days my attention span fer sports is a negative 5 minutes. haven't sat myself down to watch a pro sports game in years but I did hear that gordie "elbows" howe is facin the same affliction as his wife
he was always a class act and gets my full sympathy

Some of the guys he played with on the Oilers were so stupid they ate cookies for dinner
The team had to hire somebody to teach them what to eat....20 year old men with no clue how to survive....

John Dick grew up watching Oilers games with his father Bruce at their home in Leduc, Alta., about 35 kilometres south of Edmonton.
Last summer, his 58-year-old father found a lump on his throat while shaving off his “winter beard.” He was later diagnosed with throat cancer. This summer, the family received the news that the cancer is terminal.
“There’s not much me and Dad can do together, because he’s in palliative care,” Dick, 31, explained to the Star. Watching hockey was his solution to that problem — until the lockout began.
Dick made a video featuring his father and posted it to YouTube last Thursday. In the one-minute clip, Dick delivers a stern message to the NHL and its players.

They show a Hockey Night in Canada "classic" every Saturday night
"Classic" being another word for stale repeat/for hardcore losers/for hockey addicts only/for people with no life who stay home on Saturday night watching the CBC
